Test Questions

Why is the test for mononucleosis based on finding mono anti-bodies? Why isn't it based on something that will show up closer to the onset of illness?

The same question applies to Strep. Why can't we come up with test that's a bit more binary, earlier.

I guess what would really be cool is if we could predict ideal conditions for these ailments to happen and then prevent them.

  1. In 10-15 years we'll all have implants that screen for common infections. The implants will automatically stimulate the immune system and synthesize antibiotic compounds using bloodborne components. Likewise, the implants will help regulate cholesterol, blood sugar, allergies, and fever. They will, of course, be wireless, linking to our cell phone computers and health care provider. Transient cancer cells will be captured and destroyed by laser. Let's see, what else? Oh yeah, hormone dosing, steroid and stimulant synthesis, better batting averages and an end to the world monetary systems.
